| There's
no question that Hios has the best beaches in the Northeastern Aegean.
They're cleaner, less crowded, and more plentiful than those of Samos or
Lesvos, and would be the envy of any Cycladic isle.
 Agia
Fotini is a seaside settlement, which is located at about 11 kilometers
from Chios town. The homonymous beach is one of the most beautiful of Chios
Island with the pebbled seabed and the limpid waters.
At
about four kilometers from the north -east side of Chios town is the coast
of Agia Paraskevi ("Tagma"). You can reach it easily as it is located
very close, parallel, to the main seaside road of Vrontados.
There
are small pebbles all over the beach and in the sea too. It is very famous
to the natives, who enjoy, in the summer time, their swim to the deep blue
clean waters of the sea.
The
beach of Saint Irene is between the villages of Elata and the other
of Mesta, six (6) kilometers from the port of Mesta. It is a very beautiful,
sunny beach with sand and small pebbles
About
eight (8) kilometers from Volissos is built, near the sea, the monastery
of Agia Markella, protectress of Chios Island. The beach is sandy
and pebbled and it's main characteristic is the very cold water and the
deep bottom of the sea.
In
the area of Vrontados, seven (7) kilometers far from Chios town is situated
the area of Daskalopetra, a place with a great historical elements.
As we enter the area we see the picturesque port and the beautiful beach
with the cafeterias and many taverns along the shore.
Not
far from Chios town is the "Bella Vista" beach. The coast is sandy
and along the shore there are pebbles of any kind.
 In
the west side of Chios, there are situated the most beautiful and pure
beaches of the Island and among them the golf of Elinta. It
is a quiet shelter protected from the winds
The
port of Emborios, which is 5 kilometers from the central road of
the southern villages, was a trading center in Antiquity which is designated
by its name. The beach is a short distance from the port of Emborios and
features deep, crystal blue waters and smoothly shaped black pebbles.
Six
kilometers out from Kardamyla village and next to the beach of Nagos is
another beautiful beach, the one of Yiosonas. The natural scene
gives a wild beauty to this picturesque beach that seems to be endless,
with the 8500 square meters area.
Karfas,
with its beautiful beach, is the harbor (Skala) of Thymiana.
Situated
5 km from the town of Chios, it has evolved into the largest tourist resort
of the island. Karfas is an ideal place for swimming and fishing, but the
beach has also many other sports facilities. Near-by, there are the beaches
of Aghia Ermioni and of Megalos Limionas.
Komi
is
a seaside settlement, with a vast sands, one of the most beautiful and
popular beaches of Chios Island. Most of the summer time season the
sea is perfectly calm and the visitor can enjoy sea sports and swim.
The
beach in the area of Lithi is a big sands with a picturesque small
port at the end of the bay. The seascape is fascinating. The visitor can
enjoy the calm, sandy in the bottom, sea.
 Managros
beach is situated not far from Volissos village. It is one of the biggest
shores in the Island, with 40.000 square meters in extent.
Few
meters before we enter the village of Thymiana and almost nine (9) kilometers
from Chios town we meet the seaside settlement of Mega Limniona.
It is a very popular beach in the island, full of coarse sand and small
pebbles. The crystal -clear waters and the warm sun offers a great pleasure
to the visitor.
Near
Sidirounta village, in a small distance of two kilometers, there is Metochi.
The shore is consisted mainly of fine pebbles and other parts with
sand and little stones
The
beach of Nagos seaside settlement is located five kilometers far
from Kardamyla, at the north part of Chios. The whole scenery is fascinating,
with the waters running from the springs, the cool under the plane -trees
and the little creeks brim over near the sea
Another
beach, less known, is "Tigani" that is situated in the west side
of Chios island. It is 1800 square meters in extent, next to Sidirounta,
almost two kilometers far from the village, between the beach of Elinta
and the other of Metochi
Not
far from Pirgi, almost nine kilometers far from the village and next to
Emborio beach, is a shore named Vroulidia. The beach is located
in the southernmost edge of the island. Sandy and clean, isolated but cosmopolitan!
Three
kilometers far from Chios town is an area named Kontari. It is a
coast with coarse sand and pebbles, along the road that leads to the Airport.
Every time that strong north winds blow, huge waves are brought out to
